Am 15. Juni 2011 werden bei Christie’s in London – South Kensington in der Auktion „Vintage Film Posters“ drei Plakate aus der von der Albertina restituierten Sammlung Julius Paul versteigert.

Darunter befindet sich Victor Theodor Slamas Filmplakat für „Ariane“ mit Elisabeth Bergner aus dem Jahre 1931 für das Wiener Apollo-Kino. 2010 wurde das Plakat bei der Londoner Reel Poster Gallery um 18.000,– britische Pfund angeboten, nun wird es zu einem Schätzpreis von € 7.900,–/10.000,– bzw. 7.000,–/9.000,– Pfund ausgelobt.
Im Katalog findet sich folgender Kommentar: “The following three lots are part of a larger collection that originally belonged to a Viennese businessman called Julius Paul who collected posters between 1890 and the early 1930s. Along with other works belonging to him, the poster collection eventually ended up in the Albertina Museum in Austria in the late 1930s. It had always been believed by the Museum that these items had been acquired legitimately however, in recent years, it was discovered that the acquisition of the collection had been part of a forced sale under the Nazis. After a lengthy legal case the posters were returned to the descendants of Julius Paul, thereby making the following three posters examples of restituted art.”
